ABU DHABI HIGHLIGHTS: Saadiyat Beach Club

Saadiyat Beach Club Infinity Pool

The secluded and tranquil hideaway of the Saadiyat Beach Club was just what the doctor ordered after my hectic day bustling around Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The surroundings are idyllic since the club is built on the island of Saadiyat and overlooks the Arabian Gulf coastline.

You can get a day pass for 150AED (approx. £27) which gives you access to their beach, swimming pool and loungers until sunset, access to The Workout Room and Spa facilities including the sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi and plunge pool.

As you walk in to reception, you get your first glimpse of the pool, but this is only a teaser, as you have to go in the opposite direction to change. There are lockers in the changing to keep your belongings secure and this leads directly into the Spa area. There were only a couple of others using the facilities at the time so I made the most of my time relaxing in the Jacuzzi.

Heading outside to the impressive 650 square metre, chilled infinity pool, I couldn’t wait to take a refreshing dip. I set up on a lounger facing the gardens and private 9km beach since the cabanas were all taken by the time I arrived (for an extra fee). There was also a very efficient butler service. Unfortunately I didn’t get to see any dolphins or turtles in the bay as have been previously sighted (or so I am told).

There is also The Workout Room which overlooks the gardens and beach however since I came to relax, I didn’t step a foot inside.

As the sun started to set I had only a couple of hours before I needed to head back to the airport so after changing, made my way to the (empty) Safina Mediterranean Restaurant. The staff were all very accommodating, after I explained that I had to leave within 45 minutes to get my plane, they did everything they could to ensure the service was prompt. The décor was calming and loved the details in the photo wall displays. The mushroom risotto was very tasty, a great choice which tide me over on my next flight.
