Booking an (almost) Free Holiday: How to book a Luxury Baltic Holiday Weekend on a Bargain Budget

Written by | Booking, Europe, Itineraries, Travel Tips

Free holidays and free travel are possible!

Whilst this blog will be bringing you all of our tips and knowledge on how to travel on a bargain budget and sometimes how to have a free holiday, you need to know that free holidays and travel take A LOT of planning, leg work, work, and ironically can actually cost a lot of money.

So for now we’ve decided to put together some itineraries for you that will allow you to travel far and often in luxury for roughly the same cost as a weekend away in your own country. These are our (almost) Free Holidays: weekend getaways for around or under £100 per person.

Our first candidates in this section are two beautiful Baltic countries Latvia and Estonia. We will be posting about how we planned and had an amazing weekend break in each of these countries for virtually free. Don’t believe us; check out our twitter feed (@TheWorldInAWknd) and our hashtag #balticbargains for some pictures of our journeys.

As a teaser: here’s what we spent in each country:

Latvia

Latvia

Latvia:

  • Flights from the UK to Riga
  • 2 night stay in a 4 star hotel
  • Museum Visits
  • Tours around the Old Town of Riga and it’s architectural district
  • 3 course authentic Latvian dinning experiences
  • Visits to Latvian castles, national parks, and sculpture parks

All this for £95 per person based on two people sharing a hotel room.

Estonia

Estonia

Estonia:

  • Flights from the UK to Tallinn
  • 1 night stay in a 4 star hotel in Tallinn
  • 1 night stay in a 4 star spa at a seaside resort
  • Tours around Tallinn castle and the old town
  • Evening meals
  • Drinks whilst taking in the best view of Tallinn

All this for £116 per person based on two people sharing a hotel room.

These are personally tried and tested itineraries that are fun, luxurious and feature so many things that are free. To learn how we booked cheap travel and had two almost free holidays, check back soon for our itineraries, reviews and tips on how to travel to the Baltics for almost free.

LORD this makes me wish I lived in Europe. We just don’t get those kind of flight prices in the US. Great post though, it really puts into perspective what kind of trips you can take on a budget.
